Research On Inference Discourse Marks

Discourse marker, a common phenomenon in verbal communication, doesn’t construct the information of the sentence but mainly instruct and constrain people’ communication. Inferential discourse marker is a common conjoined element in modern Chinese text. It mainly plays the role of organizing discourse, indicating the speaker’s attitude and emotion and instructing understand of discourse.Inferential discourse marker refers to the pragmatic element with the function of joint, marking tone and prediction. It indicates the subjective attitude of communication body and may have willingness, the predicted result is uncertain. It can be divided into emic inferential discourse marker, etic inferential discourse marker, other inferential discourse marker, and special inferential discourse marker according to the kind of person of composition. Emic inferential discourse marker refers mainly to "I" inferential discourse marker, which contains reasoning inferential discourse marker (e.g. I see) and resolving inferential discourse marker (e.g. I say). Etic inferential discourse marker is mainly acted by "You" discourse marker, divided into transitive and interactive. Other inferential discourse marker, like "in one’s opinion", is the mark of stating other’s opinions by my mouth. There is also a kind of other inferential discourse marker:perhaps, imaginable, obvious and conceivable.Inferential discourse marker has flexible position, non-fixed structure and independent syntax in terms of syntax features; It have no influence on propositional content and truth condition of sentences in terms of semantic; and it has reflexivity in terms of pragmatics. The preceding and latter item of inferential discourse marker has six semantic relationships: reasoning relation, causality, conclusion relation, condition relation, adversative relation and explaining relation.Inferential discourse marker has the function of discourse, cognitive relevance and interpersonal interaction in communication. Discourse function embodies as function of coherence and cohesion of discourse, contextual support and information prominence. Cognitive relevance function embodies as the function of utterance cognition, verbal suggestion, discourse guide and discourse stress. Interpersonal interaction mainly embodies in emotion expression and attitude expression of communication parties and strength of verbal expression.Formation of inferential discourse marker is the result of grammaticalization of composition, and it can be influenced by change in view and emotion of speaker and society. Evolution process of meaning of inferential discourse marker is also the process of its subjectivization. Formation of subjectivization is the need of expressing subjectivity as well as communication. Different kind of inferential discourse marker has different level of subjectivization, among which that of emic inferential discourse marker is highest.
