It is a common psychological phenomenon that there is envy psychology in human society. However the psychology research of envy rises late. Academic envying is one of the important areas of "envy" problem, and high school is one of the most competitive stages of academic competition, so the author has interests in high school students academic envying and its gender differences. The research object of this study was the group of high school students in Nanjing, using self-made questionnaire for high school students in Nanjing random sampling surveys to study. The self-made questionnaire is through the project analysis and reliability and validity test to get a good reliability and validity. It has get three aspects (factors) of the questionnaire through exploratory factor analysis approach:Interpersonal adaptability, Emotional control and Active attack. Subjects of formal testing are 355 students from the Nanjing 5th senior high school, the Nanjing 13th senior high school and the Nanjing 17th senior high school. There are 159 girls and 139 boys in valid samples. The results of statistical analysis show that:(1) general academic envy level is not high, and in its three aspects, "emotion control" of the overall score is higher, and "active attack" overall score is lower, which shows that the academic envy bring emotional reaction that is relatively stronger, and impulsive action less; (2) there were no gender differences in the overall level of academic envy, and in its three aspects, only "emotion control" level excites gender differences that the average score of girls higher than boys’, that is to say that academic envying psychology can cause girls more intense and negative emotional experience.
