A Study On The Relationship Between Adaptability, Coping Style And Life Satisfaction Of Higher Vocational Students

In the modern society, the employment competition was more and more sharp. Higher vocational students, as an important group of China’s higher education, their employment and career development also need much concern. This paper tried to discuss the career adaptability of higher vocational students and its related factors, and expected to understand their characteristics of career psychological development, and to help colleges to carry out the diversified career counseling, which was suitable for the higher vocational students. so as to improve their career adaptability.This study used 419 higher vocational students in Nanjing city as subjects, and used college students career resilience scale, simple coping style questionnaire (SCSQ), and life satisfaction rating scale to examine the distribution of career adaptability on demographic(like gender, age, et al.) and the relationship among career adaptability, coping style and life satisfaction. Main conclusions were as followed:1) Some demographic variables (gender, age, major, experience, internship, the student cadre, grade, family economic conditions) had significant main effect on career adaptability in the group of higher vocational students.2) career adaptability, coping style and life satisfaction were correlated pairwise.3) Positive coping had significant mediating effect on the relationship between Career adaptability and life satisfaction. Career adaptability can influence life satisfaction by positive coping.Finally, Based on the study result, the suggestions together with the study limitation and future research direction were discussed.
