The interview with high school students found that the obstacles they perceived have seriously hindered their future development. However, research on perceived barriers and relevant variables is very limited at present. Based on this context, this study investigated404high school students from city and urban area in Xinyang and Nangjing, made an analysis of data by SPSS17.0and AMOS18.0, revised the Perceived Barriers Scale and Career Adaptability Scale, and then revealed the current situation of perceived barriers among high school students, explored the relationship between perceived barriers, career adaptability and life satisfaction, provided some valuable reference for reducing high school students’ perceived barriers. The main conclusions are as follows:1. The revised Perceived Barriers Scale showed a reasonable reliability and validity, including background discrimination, limit of marriage and family, obstacle of parents, lack of school education, shortage of information exploration and lack of skills. The revised Career Adaptability Scale showed a reasonable reliability and validity, including career concerns, career control, career curiosity and career confidence. What’s more, these scales were suitable among high school students.2. High school students’ perceived career barriers and career adaptability had significant differences on gender and grade. Perceived career barriers had significant differences on parents’education. Career adaptability had significant differences on mother’s education.3. There was significant negative correlation between perceived career barriers and career adaptability. There was significant negative correlation between perceived career barriers and life satisfaction. There was significant positive correlation between career adaptability and life satisfaction.4. Obstacle of parents and shortage of information exploration had a significant negative prediction to career adaptability. Obstacle of parents and limit of marriage and family had a significant negative prediction to life satisfaction. Career adaptability had a significant positive prediction to life satisfaction.5. Career adaptability played a fully moderating role on the relationship between perceived barriers and life satisfaction.
