The Philippines has experienced the process of introduction of democracy, establishment of the authoritarian rule and democratic transition, the political development process doesn’t run smoothly. As "The Window of Democracy", the Philippines is a typical failure democratic state in Asia which earliest introduce the system of democracy. In the Philippines, powerful family dominated the country’s political institutions, as well as seriously affect the government’s autonomy. The elite attached to the powerful family occupied the center power of the state and local politic, even taken up the head of government agency, the country’s leader and House seats. Political families played an important role in the many factors that affected the political development in the Philippines.In order to deepen the understanding of difficulties in political development of family politic, this paper discusses the history and culture of the Philippines, also analyzes the formation, development and influence of Philippines family politic. Besides epilogue, this article is divided into four chapters. The first chapter traces the historical origin of the Philippines family politic. The second chapter discusses family politic’s development and evolution since independence of the Philippines.The third chapter concludes the basic characteristics of the Philippines family politic. The fourth chapter summarizes the negative influence of Philippines family politic. The Conclusion Part generalizes the core of this article, Namely family politic leads to the plight of political development in the Philippines.The study about this paper illustrates that family politic is the product of the combination of traditional asylum structure and modern democracy. Social structure of the family in Barangay laid the foundation of the family politic, with the combination of western democracy and the continuation of shelter structure promoting the formation of the Philippines family politic.In addition, the endogenous problem that derived from the family politic is a weak party system, high frequency of unrest and disorder public participation. Family politic severely hampered Philippine political development. Although family politic and the system of democracy can be harmonious coexistence, it is still difficult to conceal the influence of the feudal relations such as client-patron system, finally family politic leads to the plight of political development in the Philippines.
