A Study Of Yan 's Ci Poets In Wuxi During The Qianlong And Jiaqing Times

Yang family was very famous in Wuxi during the reign of Emperor Qian Long and Emperor Jia Qing. There were a lot of poets in Yang family. Yang Fangcan, a prominent man of letters in Qing dynasty, was the first representative of the poets in Yang family, and later, Yang kui together with Yang Yingcan, Yangkuisheng was all eminent poets in that time. My thesis focuses on Yang kuisheng, who had made the highest achievement in poetry among the poets in Yang family, analyzing deeply his life story, social intercourse, theoretical view of poetry and poetic practice and analyzing deeply his artistic characteristic, which is the perfect combination of elegance and magnificence, vicissitude and deep depression and affirming his role of promoting the reform of poetic style as a poet during the transition period. At the same time, my thesis also pays attention to other poets in Yang family.The introduction part states chiefly why I select this topic, the significance, content, and method of my research, and summarizes the research status of the poets in Yang family.Based on works such as Yang’s Genealogy, The Chronology of Duke RongShang, The Log of Jinkui county, and WuXi Library, the first chapter introduces Yang family and Gu family and focuses on the influence of family and external culture on the poets in Yang family.Based on Yangkuisheng’s poetry, note, as well as the prologues and poetry of his friends such as YanHu, GuHan as well as Yang’s Genealogy, the second chapter explores Yangkuisheng’s life story, imperial examinations, official career, social intercourse and responsory condition.The third chapter studies Yangkuisheng’s poetic theory and practice, and pays my greatest attention to exploring the poetic view reflected from XU Ci Pin, the subjects and artistic characteristics of Zhen Song Ge Poetry.Based on Yang’s Genealogy and The Chronology of Duke RongShang, the fourth chapter introduces the life story of other poets in Yang family and analyses their artistic characteristics based on their poetry.The epilogue part evaluates the poets in Yang family and affirms their role of promoting the reform of poetic style during the transition period.
