The two Song Dynasties possesses abundant painting subject. The emergance of poetic small scene landscape painting of Southern Song Dynasty enriches the expressive force of landscape painting. It holds a place in the hystory of Southern Song Dynasty landscape painting with its unique way of materials and strong poetic pictures. And the painting is concise but not losing lasting appeal, the composition is simple but not losing pen and ink, which not only inherited traditional pen and ink language of Northern Song Dynasty, but also opened up a new world.From the perspective of social and historical aspect, this paper discusses the causes of the Southern Song Dynasty small scene landscape painting, the influnce for it with the change of time spirit and aesthetic orientation. Reference begins from the concept of poetic, then explains the characteristics and poetic expression of small scene landscape painting by using pictures expansion.
