Hexi, guarding Guanlong and controlling the Western Regions,is not only the military strategic frontier in the northwest in the Tang Dynasty, but also an important stage where the scholars went abroad, went to their post or wandering on the frontier. Its unique geographical environment and rich exotic culture bred west frontier poetry, which is not only a literary gem, but also the image of the historical record of the west. Therefore, it benefits the understanding of the social history to the west, economic and cultural life of the people and cultural revival of the Silk Road. Researching the scholars and their poetry in the Tang Dynasty from the perspective of regional literature is also the proper meaning of the title of the Northwest literary studies. This study makes full use of relevant literature and the results based on the recent researches, starting from the microscopic, regarding Hexi as the main idea, thinking of the west of poetry as the content, and explores the regional style of Hexi poetry from the perspective of the region, which is under its cultural influence. The article is divided into three parts.The first part, namely the introduction. First, it traces the origin, in other words, the Hexi as a geographical concept appearing in literature sources and their geographical area. And it briefly describes the strategic importance of politics, military, transportation in ancient times (especially in the Tang Dynasty). Secondly, this study defines a range of poems in Hexi and The Tang Dynasty. Finally, it concludes the academic achievements of the history of the development of regional literature and literary arts, pointing out the significance of this topic.The second part, namely the main part, which includes the first chapter to the forth chapter:The first chapter discusses the historical and geographical environment which bred Hexi poetry. First, it is the necessary introduction to Hexi history and unique natural and cultural landscape, combined with the compliment of the Tang Dynasty poet, focusing on cultural details of historical accumulation and cultural landscape with poets’ emotions. Secondly, it investigates the content and features of Hexi poetry before Tang.The second chapter briefly discusses Hexi poetry and their poets in the Tang Dynasty starting from their birthplace. The first section focuses on the poetic creation of poets whose domicile was in Hexi, taking the frontier poet Li Yi and his homeland feelings as main point and generally analyzing the reasons why they were poor then. Section Ⅱ discusses the general situation Hexi poetry written by expatriate poets, focusing on two aspects. First, from the perspective of regional transit poet, it takes Keju poets and Guanju poets in Hexi as research subjects. Chengzi’ang and Censheng are the representatives of Keju poets in Hexi, while Guanju poets there are represented by Cishi and Jiedushi, among whom Wang Wei and Gaoshi and Guo Zhen are the main points. Second, it starts from the imagined territory of the poets never in transit, exploring the Hexi complex of the poets like Dufu, Zhangji, Wangjian, Bai Juyi, Yuanzhen, Du Mu, and Guanxiu in the middle and late Tang Dynasty. Besides, it explores the poems reflecting Hexi border issues and the culture of music and dance in Hexi like Liangzhouci, Liangzhouqu, Liangzhouge and so on.The third chapter focuses on the common features of Hexi poet groups at the Tang Dynasty. This chapter summarizes the topic of Hexi poetry then as four parts, patriotic and war, homesickness, borderland scenery and exotic culture. As the ancient battlefield with shining spears and armored houses, Hexi bears not only the generous and patriotic enthusiasm of poets, but also flows women’s sadness and sorrow. With unique mountains morphology, phenology landscape, history, culture and customs, Hexi Corridor touches the poetic feelings of poets. What’s more, the special points of Hexi Corridor enter the poet vision in a variety of ways, making its unique life experience and cultural meditation to be a colorful chapter, written by others’ culture.The fourth chapter focuses on aesthetic grasp of the artistic features of poems in the Tang Dynasty. First, from the aspect of the imagery, the poetry in Hexi common images are generalized, including the geographical imagery, landscape imagery, musical imagery and characters imagery with a profound historical and cultural connotations. Secondly, from the aesthetic realm, it explores the consistency of poetry from poets in Hexi, majestic figure of Hexi poetry, magnificent scene, forceful mood, Valiant’s emotion from the diversity of individual styles, which shows a forceful sublime aesthetic realm.The third part, namely conclusion summarizes the whole text, contemplate the overall style of Hexi poetry.
