Postgraduate education takes on t he responsibility of culti vati ng specialized personnel in all walks of life. And it also pl ays an impor tant rol e in promot ing national and local economic and social de velopment, comprehens ively promoting the important role in the construction of our c ountry. The proficiency of postgraduate st udents’ English directly rela ted t o their English learning, s cientifi c res earch,acade mic communication with acade mic standards. However, with the college expansions, the quality of postgraduate Engl is h education has slipped especi all y for the non-Englis h maj or s whose quality of English education i s not optimis tic.Therefore, the problem of how to improve students’ abilit y to use English becomes urgent in college English education for non-English maj or s. In order to impr ove the quality of postgraduates and the teaching abil ity of postgraduate English teacher s i n our country, it is necess ary t o know t he current si tuat ion of postgraduate English education for non-English maj ors. To build effective teaching strategy of post graduate English education on the basis of the above res earch which wi ll provide referenc es for the reform of pos tgradua te English te aching in China. From the perspective of pos tgradua te, this resea rch will have a deep anal ysis of postgraduate English teaching through the methods of literature review, questionnaires and classroom obse r vati on. As a consequence, by revealing t he pr oblem and ana lyzi ng the influence factors of postgraduate English tea ching, t he thesis will expl ore the effect ive ways to improve the postgraduate English teaching. This ar ticle contains five chapters:Chapter One is an Introduction. It i ncludes the reason t o choose this topic,research de sign, related concept definition, the current situation of the re search.Chapter Two i s the theoretical basis of this study. It explains and i ntroduce s the related theory of his study which contains construct ion theory, multi ple intelligence theory optimizati on theory of t eaching process and effective teaching theory.Chapter Three is the research and result of the current situation of postgraduateEnglish teaching for non-English majors. It covers results and conclusions on the questionnaires and observation.Chapter Four shows the proble m and reason of effectiveness of teachers’ teaching for postgraduate English teaching of non-English majors. On the basi s of questionnaires, it uncovers the problems which exi st in pos tgradua te English teaching for non-Engl ish majors. On t he basis of empirical research and theoretical analysi s,the author of the thesis tries to find out the factors which a ffect the effectiveness of English teaching acc ording to the existing problems.Chapter Five presents the effective s trategy to i mpr ove English classroom teaching for postgraduates of non-Englis h majors. By anal yzing the existi ng problem and i nfluenc e factors, the author puts forwa rd the features of effective English teaching for post graduat es of non-English majors a nd the corresponding strategies for improving the effe ctiveness of Engl ish teaching for post graduates of non-English majors.
