Research On Longxing Longxue Animation

As a commercial animation director enjoying quick success in the Japanese circle of animation, Tatsuyuki Nagai is also known as one of the young directors who have first come into contact with original animation. Due to his unique understanding of animation production OP/ED, he is crowned as a master of animation OP/ED. Through analyzing his work experience, animation production as well as OP/ED and his personal style, a MV animation is shot. In the end, the study results on Japanese animation obtained during creating this thesis and the MV animation are summed up, and the intrinsic nationality of Japanese animation and its’differences with other countries’ animation are analyzed with a case study of the animation works by Tatsuyuki Nagai.Chapter Ⅰ is the introduction. The author, nurtured by Japanese animations as a kid, is deeply attracted by the commercial animations created by Tatsuyuki Nagai, which promotes the formation of this thesis. Through analyzing the research status, the contribution and significance of Tatsuyuki Nagai to original animation and animation OP/ED have been established.Chapter Ⅱ presents Tatsuyuki Nagai’s journey on animation. His work experience is analyzed through stage of early employment, stage of growth and stage of maturity, so as to reveal his processes of rapid growth and success as well as his famous representative works.Chapter Ⅲ analyzes two representative works of Tatsuyuki Nagai. The former falls into the scope of original adapted animation while the latter into original animation. Two different types of animation are analyzed to show his features in terms of the arrangements and handling of character and story plot as well as his mastery over key points and details.Chapter IV probes into the OP/ED charm of his animations through analyzing the utilization of sight, adoption of light and color, arrangement of figurative characters and scene editing to emphasize character description (these four points are praised as "Nagai Strategy" within the circle). Then a MV animation is created with his techniques.Chapter Ⅴ summarizes the process of creating this thesis and the animation, and analyzes the intrinsic nationality of Japanese animation and its differences with other countries’animation with a case study of Tatsuyuki Nagai works.
