This paper begins with the study of phonetic features of Indian English to analyze the impact of Indian accents on English to Chinese consecutive interpretation and by testing classmates with Indian-accent materials to further prove the effects. By doing so, we found that Indian accents are indeed the trouble maker and bring many obstacles to interpreters. All these obstacles affect efficiency, fluency, accuracy and integrity of interpretation. Therefore, understanding the phonetic features of Indian English can help interpreters to complete the translation work successfully. |
