The Functional Analysis Of The Discourse Mark "Right"

With the development of functional linguistics, the theory of discourse analysis becomes more mature so relative scholars focus on discourse markers analysis. In 1980s, Schiffrin who represents the coherence theory based on production-based approach and Blakemore who represents relevance theory based on interpretation-based approach analyse discourse in two different ways. This paper focuses on discourse marker "duile" with basic linguistic knowledge, discourse marker theory and relative knowledge of linguistics. This paper analyses the spoken Chinese textbooks and corpus to guide the textbook compiling and Chinese teaching.There are three properties of "duile" in the process of grammaticalization as well as subjectivisation and lexicalization. Analysing discourse marker "duile" in Chinese speaking textbooks and corpus, this paper concludes two functions of discourse marker "duile"’ textual function and pragmatic function.There are six parts in the paper:introduction, chapter one, chapter two, chapter three, chapter four and chapter five.The introduction introduces studying purpose, research overview of discourse marker "duile", corpus source and studying content.The first chapter analyses property of "duile". There are three different properties in function shifting process which are phrase "duile", transitional "duile" and discourse marker "duile". The key part is discourse marker "duile".The second chapter concludes the appearance of discourse marker "duile" due to high frequent usage. The paper analyses evolution characteristics of discourse marker "duile" from aspects of subjectivisation and lexicalization.The third chapter analyses textual function of discourse marker "duile" which are topic-shifting function, topic-continuing function, topic-recovering function, topic-recovering and continuing function.The forth chapter analyses pragmatic function and pragmatic motivation of discourse marker "duile". Pragmatic function includes discourse coherence function, information added function and reminding function. Pragmatic motivation includes impeling of saving effort principle and meta-pragmatic awareness of arousing other’s attention.The fifth chapter concludes points in this paper, innovating points and shortcomings in this paper. This paper compares phrase "duile"and discourse marker "duile" in six aspects. Pragmatic function includes information added function and this function can be divided into additional explanation function and discourse correction function.
