| Edited by XUAN-Ying,famous scholar in Tang Dynasty,XUAN-YING YIN YI is an medieval dictionary to explain the difficult words in Buddhist scriptures for reading them.This work explain eight thousand words according to about Four hundred Buddhist scriptures,having Twenty-five volume.It includes analyzing glyphs,illustrating meanings and identifying pronunciations.In recent decades, learning community of Interpretation of Pronunciations and Meanings in Tripitaka launched a full range of research, is quite fruitful results, especially to XUAN-YING YIN YI. The research contents involve edition and textual criticism, pronunciation, vocabulary,culture. Nevertheless, the Buddhist Yinyi`s research still has space for further expansion, such as in the aspect of interpretation, still need to be further discussed.The paper takes XUAN-Ying`s interpretation of pronunciation and meaning as the object. The main research methods are: quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis, combining traditional exegesis methods and modern language theory is summarized combining, concurrently on a case specific analysis.The paper is divided into four parts, Chapter 1 is an introduction. It mainly introduced the XUAN-YING YIN YI and its research situation and the reasons of selecting this topic. The second chapter is about XUAN-YING YIN YI`S objects of definitions, Buddhist texts and interpretation of the content from the control point of view summed up by XUAN-Ying should be specific object of interpretation have loanwords, single words, double words, and their characteristics are analyzed. Chapter three is about the ways of XUAN-YING YIN YI`s interpretation, trying to prove XUAN-Ying`s interpretation takes the meanings as the center. The words pronunciation variants, characters variants and meanings variants all aim at th interpretation of words. In the fourth chapter, we study the relationship between the interpretation and the meaning system. |
