Culture-loaded words(CLWs), which are also known as lexical vacancy, or culture-embedded words, are those concepts loaded with specific national culture. They reflect national culture directly or indirectly, including specific cultural phenomenons such as: idioms, allusions, vivid words, etc. Therefore, the interpretation of CLWs does benefit to cross-culture communication. However, the appropriate interpretation of CLWs is difficult for their unique culture connotation and enormous differences between Chinese and western culture. Hence, mistranslation, pretermission and disfluency occurred in the process of interpreting CLWs. In this part, the author explored translation strategies including intensifying Chinese culture knowledge and consecutive interpreting skills in this thesis. Interpreters should pay attention to the cultural differences between source language and target language, the contexts of CLTs’ usage and readers’ acceptability so as to achieve translation purposes. |
