The influence of western music culture of Romantic Period on the development of Chinese modern music.In this paper, we try to sort out the intricate relationship between Chinese modern music culture and Western Romantic Music by analyzing and discussing modern China which was seeped by western music culture starting from the practice of the spread of vocal and instrumental music, musical performances, music theory, music creation and music education, taking the influence of music in western romantic period to Chinese modern music as the center of study. The four chapters of this paper are mainly discussed as follows.One. The exchange of music culture between Chinese and western countries before the Romantic Period. Reflecting the grand history of Chinese and western cultural exchange which occurs earlier than Western Romantic Period by elaborating Yan music, which was made of the fusion of Chinese and foreign music, missionaries’ records, the operas those were related to China and the formation of Rococo style taking the 18 th Century as the time axis.Chapter Two. Analysis on the development of Chinese music in the 19 th Century. Clarifying the necessity of the introduction of western music by explaining the general state of social culture in this period. Laying out the developing condition of Chinese music in the 19 th Century with three main clues which are Chinese folk music, court music and western music.Chapter Three. The influence of the western music culture of Romantic Period on the development of Chinese modern music. Analyzing comprehensively from following aspects. The change and development of Chinese traditional instrumental music, the introduction of western instrumental music, the spread of western music theory, the application of western creating techniques, the innovation of music performance, and the expansion and development of Chinese modern music education which was influenced by western music.Chapter Four. Historical review and deep thinking. Summing up the contents of the previous chapters and thinking deep from the point of history. Eastern and Western music culture integrated more and more. The infiltration of the two kinds of culture shows the trend of deepening and extensive. But they didn’t merge or disappear at the same time. Thus we learn that any national culture has its own unique vitality and solid foundation. Cultural integration refers to the process of learning from or receiving other cultures combining with the development of the national music culture, basing on its own culture. Its essence is to serve the development of national music culture with the help of other excellent experience or achievements, strengthening the vitality of the national culture.
