Self consistency and congruence indicate the harmony of internal self and coordination between ego and experience. The degree of self consistency and congruence has great impact on psychological health, and can forecast psychological symptoms variation to some extent. Therefore, good state of self consistency and congruence, is an important guarantee for college students, social adaptation and the sustainable development of individuals. This research aims to know the whole current situation of college students’ self consistency and congruence, this study adopted Test SCCS to survey 546 students from freshmen to senior students, which from ShouXiHu campus and WenHuiLu campus of Yangzhou University.Firstly, we choose 20 subjects randomly among 78 participants with lower self consistency and congruence to do group sandplay therapy intervention and to make a conclusion about the initial sandplay characteristics of college students with lower self consistency and congruence. Then divide the subjects into 2 groups, the intervention group and the control group, each group has 10 people. The intervention group receives a three-month intervention, once a week. At the same time, the control group proceeds Group instruction. After intervention, test the level of the self consistency and congruence again to prove the effect of Group Sandplay therapy. The results are as follows:(1) In the research,66 college students are in the higher level, accounting for 12.1% of the total samples;402 college students are in the general level of self consistency, accounting for 73.6% of the total samples; while 78 college students are in the lower level, accounting for 14.3%.(2) Great differences of self consistency and congruence exist in gender.:Boys’scores of self consistency, self flexibility, self stereotype are higher than girls (p<0.05), while in the dimension of self and experience disharmony are almost same.(3) There are great differences in grade of self consistency and congruence, especially in scores of self consistency, discord between self and experience disharmony(p<0.05). After further test, the self consistency of sophomore is higher than freshmen, while in self flexibility and self stereotype, each grade’s differences are not remarkable.(4) The initial sandplay productions features of college students with lower self consistency and congruence are as follows:The traumatic themes are about war, rival, and escape; lack of self-image or uses the alternative self-image; poor in using sand and self flexibility.(5) The self consistency scores of the intervention group and 3 factors are significantly different before and after intervention which means group sandplay therapy can improve college students’ level of self consistency. The control group has prominent differences only in the dimension of self and experience disharmony which shows that Group Tnstruction can improve students’state of self consistency to some extent.(6) The pre-test scores of the intervention group and the control group are almost the same, while the post-test scores are different that indicates the effect of Group Sandplay therapy is superior to Group Instruction.(7) The sandplay products of the intervention change from the themes about rival and escape to harmony and development, from negative self-evaluation to positive self-evaluation;Working with sand is gradually increase. With the utilization of more sand, individual’s emotion flows and self flexibility improves.
