A Study On The Origin And Influence Of Japanese And Chinese Novels

The light novels were born in Japan, during its development, this style of novels once was not recognized by literary circle. However, it perfectly adapted the reading habits of modern youngsters, and gradually became widely popular. Therefore, many experienced novelist started to engage into the creation of light novels, for instance the famous Japanese mystery novelists Fujumi Ono, Yukito Ayatsuji etc. Moreover, as the accumulation of the light novelist’s experience, the qualities of these novels improved rapidly. Some light novelist such as Kazuki Sakuraba was awarded NAOKI prize which is the highest prize of Japanese popular literature with her work MY MAN.As can be concluded, the light novels present an alluring and promising prospect.It has been thirty years since the birth of light novel to its thriving nowadays in Japan,however, for Chinese readers it is still a fresh style of novels.This paper will focus on studying the influence of Japanese light novels to Chinese light novels:At first, the paper will discuss how the light novels was born and evolved in Japan, reveal its rapid expansion and point out the crux limits its development. Then,the paper would unfold the discussion on the current situation of the development of Chinese light novels, and enumerate the aspects that influenced by Japanese light novels, and compare the similarities and differences between the works of the two countries. At last, the paper would look into the future of Chinese light novels,understand the advantages and disadvantages of Japanese light novels, learn from its essence and discard the dross, and eventually enlighten the path of the development of Chinese light novels.
