A Study Of Korean Cultural Diplomacy In China

The goal of any country’s foreign policy is to achieve the interest of the state, so does the cultural diplomacy. Cultural diplomacy is an important means of achieving national interest. The central purpose of Korea’s cultural policy to China is to achieve the economic interest. After the founding of the South Korea, its cultural industry developed quickly and has great developmental potential. So the government of South Korea started to pay attention to the economic benefit of "culture", and set down a strategy, which takes culture as a new motive power for the economic growth. Therefore, the purpose of implementing cultural diplomacy toward China in the early stage by South Korea government is very clear, that is to increase the export of their cultural products, thereby to obtain the biggest economic interest and promote the economic relationship with China.So the South Korea could get over the economic crisis and revive its economic growth.With the cultural communication between China and South Korea and the expanding influence of Korean wave in China, South Korea tries to make use of that influence to output its life style and value,and change the attitude of Chinese to Korea. Through that,Korea could improve its national image and increase its cultural soft power. Korea has made great achievements in its economic and politic policies and formed integrate implementing concept and system, so does the cultural diplomacy. Although the cultural diplomacy has been acknowledged widely, there is little study on the Korean cultural policy toward China. Based on this knowledge, the author summarizes the connotation and function of cultural diplomacy, analyzes the concept, features and influences of South Korea’s cultural policy to China, and puts forward some suggestions.
