The animation industry is a rising industry that China has been promoting and supporting in recent years. Actually, animation industry does not only cover the production and broadcast of animation. It is a complete business chain which requires much work on creation, market research, realization of the whole idea, the sales of relative publications, authorization of the brand, byproducts of the brand etc. Among them is the cartoon toys, which work as an import part of the business chain and bring about enormous profits.Cartoon toys and cartoons do not exist separately in modern animation industry. They are inseparable and beneficial to each other. By broadcasting cartoons, can the cartoon toys occupy a bigger market share; By sales of cartoon toys can the cartoons be more appealing to the audiences. The production of cartoon toys and the scheming of cartoons should be done at the same time prior to the designing. They both should be developed at the basis of adequate market research and needs of target consumers.This paper analyzes the condition, relation between cartoon toys and cartoons and their problems, with the insights into the reality of the animation industry home and abroad, and also the analysis of the existing cases. The paper is expected to throw lights on the animation industry in China where the needs of market are neglected, where foreign products swarm and where animation industry brings about profits only by selling copyrights.
