In the development of China-Africa relationship, China’s aid to Africa has longbeen an important part of China-Africa cooperative relationship in the political, diplomatic, economic and trade aspects. China’s aid to Africa since over half centuryago has made tremendous contributions to African countries’ independence, construction and development and has been warmly welcomed and spoken highly bythe people of various African countries. The global pattern has been in the period of reform and adjustment since the newcentury begins, in which the strategic status of Africa is rising continuously. To betteradapt such a situation, China has adjusted its aid policy to Africa. The aid directivehas transformed from assistance without requesting any return to mutual beneficialand win-win result oriented. China has initiated the mechanism of China-AfricaCooperation Forum and constantly enriched the methods of aid to Africa. The aidscale has been rapidly expanded with a wider coverage. Therefore, compared with theaid effect of that from the western countries, China’s aid to Africa has achieved ratherobvious good result. In the years of the new century, China’s great achievements onaid to Africa could be embodied both on the promotion of Arica’s development, butalso on the influence on China and China-Africa relationship.Of course, there are also some challenges in the process of providing aid to Africa.Targeting on the problems and challenges from different perspectives, China shouldmake improvement on policy/theory, publicity at home and abroad, law andmechanism building, exploration on new models, multilateral cooperation, strengthening the role of NGOs, etc. Only if China keeps pace with the times, it canalways be in conformity with the new demands of the development of China-Africarelations in the new era, so as to further promote the quality of aid to Africa. As aresult, it will gain the recognition of the international community as well as thewelcome from the African countries and will also better serve the diplomacy, economy and China’s great cause of reunification.
