A Study On The Care Of The Elderly In The Aged Of The Aged In The Perspective Of Dominant Perspective

With the accelerating process of aging of population in China, the problem ofsupporting old people has become an important matter which can not be neglected ineconomic and social construction. While, the variation of family structure andinfluence of population migration, etc has weakened the family supporting functioncontinuously under the thought of “bringing up sons to support parents in their oldage”. Moreover, institution for old-age care suddenly rises in social pension systemand its role has been changed from “supplement” to “support”. Nowadays, more andmore old people either actively or passively choose institution for old-age and this hasbrought an unprecedented challenge to old-age care in China. As a special old-agegroup, the disabled elders make new issues to institution care. How to take care ofthese elders in institution has been the emphasis discussed by different subjects.Therefore, based on the caring issue for disabled elders in institution, this paper isseeking for a kind of mode which is involvement of professional social workers.Through interview and survey about8nursing institutions in Q city, the authoradvocates improving the care for disabled elders under the theory of strengthperspective to change the past problem perspective, taking advantage of the idea ofsocial work profession and professional method of case work, group work andcommunity work to promote the innovation of the idea and method of caring aboutdisabled elders.Based on the observation about the living actuality of disabled elders andsummary and analysis of the care problems for disabled elders in institution of Q city,this paper proposes to promote the improvement of caring mode in existing nursinginstitution for the aged by using the care perspective under strength idea such as“empowerment”,“resilience” and “membership”, etc.
