Research On Legal Protection Of Consumer Security Right In Online Shopping

With the rapid development of the Internet today, online shopping is breaking the traditional mode of consumption. The new shopping mode has posed many challenges to the consumers as far as bringing various conveniences. As a basic right, the right of safety can directly affect consumers’ confidence in online shopping. More rights have been added to the right of safety because of online shopping, including the rights of personal information safety, transaction security and commodity quality safety. Since online shopping is based on Internet, the virtual characteristic of network poses great threat to the safety of payment and personal information. The transaction risk has also been increased by more complicated legal relationship and zero limitation of time and space. At the same time, the commodity quality cannot be ensured in this new shopping mode. At present, there are no special regulations on protecting consuming rights of online shopping in our country. But in other countries and areas where have advanced technologies such as the European Union and America, there has been relatively complete legal system on consumer right protection. This paper will focus on the right of safety on online shopping. Through research on the legislation of the European Union and America, the paper suggests that we should make special laws, strengthen the administrative supervision and industry self-regulation. Only by doing this, can the right of safety be protected.
