After the entering of21stcentury, international climate calamity has occurredfrequently, all the nations around the world has taken various measures to solve suchan issue, and this problem has been viewed as a vital topic gradually. As an importantdeveloping country nowadays, India possess a significant influence to the issue ofinternational climate change. Besides that, this country has also displayed theproblems that faced by all the developing country, the diversity and arduousness ofopportunity, challenge and defection. To illustration, grievous poverty, massiveenvironmental disruption, abundant human resource and powerful technic capacity, allthese factors not only have presented a challenge, but also themselves are anopportunity to this country. Meanwhile, India is a vital neighboring country of China,any policy made by it would construct a profound influence to our country. Thus, thestudy of India’s climate policy will have a momentous significance realistically andtheoretically.This paper adopts the study method of interdisciplinary research, empiricalanalysis and literature research, introduces the climate measures taken by the Indiagovernment from the1990s systematically. Based on that, conclude the shortcomingsand merits of all the measures. Then calculates the new problems and challenges thatthey will meet in the near future according to the relevant theory. In the end, proposesseveral suggestion to our government while they are formulating policies.This paper can be divided into four parts. The first part illustrate the studysituation of India climate policy by the academic world briefly, point out theinsufficient and achievements of it. The second part introduces the specific measurestaken by the Indian government from1970s to1990s, this stage is the one that Indiagovernment began to pay attention to the climate policy. The third part introduces themeasures after2000.The last part conclude the faults and merits of these measures,and proposes the problems and challenges in the future.
