In real-life test applications, we are facing with a difficulty to direct long interval, non-interruptible test and monitor requirements for our products and hope that the tests can be done automatically under the control of a PC. Unfortunately, various products are using different communication interface and protocols and these interface are not all compatible with PC. In order to connect one or more products to a PC simultaneously, a protocol conversion is needed. a conversion system capable of performing conversions between USB and I~2C, SPI, RS232 and CAN is proposed and discussed in detail in this thesis.A brief introduction of ARM processor, which is used to perform central control functions in the proposed system, is given first; and the descriptions of various interfaces comes next; then a real-time operation system uC/OS II is briefly described.Emphasized in this thesis are the system's structure, hardware, and software design. All circuit blocks are presented and discussed. The conversion system is prototyped and tested. Its software is simulated, debugged, and optimized. Both hardware and software can work together to perform the proposed communication protocol conversions.
