It will have a big influence on the production and its management for a manufacturing enterprise that how to accurately collect and handle the various data of the products during their processing, to monitor and control relevant parameters and to feedback and display production information.Based on barcode technology, this paper studies and designs product identifying and tracking system in manufacturing enterprise. It divides the target system into three parts, which are data collection subsystem, database subsystem and querying and application subsystem. The data collection subsystem mainly studies how to read, compose and send the various data in the shop floor by means of data collection machine (workstation). The main contents of database subsystem are the concept design, logic design, physical design and internal program design of a database system. It also gives an implementation method for the database subsystem based on Oracle 8i. The querying and application subsystem introduces the design of program structure, initialization module and a few typical application modules. Based on PowerBuilder PFC framework and taking product input and output module as an example, it also tells the method of application development and test.The paper is divided into six chapters: Chapter 1 says the background and the meanings; Chapter 2 does the system analysis and gives out the transaction flow diagram and data flow diagram of the system; Chapter 3 summarizes the general design of the system; Chapter 4 discusses the design of the three important parts of the system in detail; Chapter 5 expatiates on the implementation steps of the database subsystem based on Oracle 8i and HP_UX; And Chapter 6 expatiates on the implementation steps of the application subsystem based on PowerBuilder 8; The last chapter is the summarization and expectation of the paper.
