Along with the rapid development of the communication and computer technology, the digital video is playing the more and more vital role in the information society. Co-sponsored under the National Science Fund of China– Research on general Rate-Distortion Model on Wireless Channel (Grant No.60372067) and Youth Chenguang Program of Wuhan– Reseach on Joint Power-Rate-Distortion Model for Wireless Multimedia Communication (Grant No.20045006071-18), and Hubei Science Foundation"Research of High Quality Image & Video Coding for Mobile Multimedia (NO.CGZ0223)", this thesis conducts an in-depth research on the adaptive loopfilter in video coding. Meanwhile, our research group has been a major member of China's Digital Audio and Video Coding Standard (AVS) Workgroup. By submitting technical proposals and taking our responsibilities in the workgroup, we help to push the drafting of the AVS Standard of China.Under the low bitrate condition,the image coding based on the block transformation can cause the blocking artifact, it affects the widespread application. How to eliminate the blocking artifact also already appear many different solutions. This article introduces the basic theory of video coding firstly, and analyzes the loopfilter in AVS and H.264, using the method based on block to remove the blocking artifact. This article proposals a low complication loopfilter based on AVS-P2 Xprofile platform. Using the macroblock type to judge the Bs, aim to reduce the operation complication, and easy to realize the parallel processing on the block level.Because the current filter technology has not been able to consider the concrete structure and content of the image, while eliminate the blocking artifact, it has created the nonuniformity of the subjective performance and the objective performance.This article research the current loopfilter in video coding, design and implement the new loopfilter based on HVS (human visual system). After statistical analysis, combine the characteristics of the subjective visual, eliminate or weaken the blocking artifact reasonably, and reduce the operation complication effectively. Another topic of the thesis is the design of"AVS-P2 Golden C Decoder". One of the key recommended steps in developing an embedded video codec is to first develop a platform independent video codec implementation. The essence of our proposed decoder is that all the decoding operations are restricted in macroblocks. This feature enables parallel operations between macroblocks, reducing the spatial and temporal complexity for the whole decoding process. This thesis will introduce the design rules of the codec, the system design of the decoder, and the detailed design of the variable length decoding part. Since AVS-P2 has been approved as a formal standard of China in March 2006, it can be predicted that the design of"AVS-P2 Golden C Decoder"will bring in considerable applications in the future.
