Study On The Competitiveness Of Chinese Agricultural Product International Trade Under The Rule Of WTO

Since China join the World Trade Organization WTO), the competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products in international trade has changed a lot under the influence of various factors, such as ,more vigorous competition by the implementation of rule of market penetration, greater effects of price competitiveness on international trade; more and more anti-dumping cases appeared in the world; the implementation of animals and plants quarantine regulation raised threshold of the international trade, all these factors weakened the lower price competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products in international trade . After join the World Trade Organization, the Chinese agricultural products would face many opportunities and challenges, so the key to the question is to upgrade the competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products in international trade.The research of competitiveness in foreign countries had a thorough and perfect system, among them, the most representative one is the competitiveness theory of Mike Porter. In China, the competitiveness research about Chinese agricultural products in international trade.mainly involved in declining the producing cost upgrading the quality of the agricultural products, but seldom achievements in monographic study of in international competitiveness research of Chinese agricultural products.Using method of data describing and data analysis, this article analyze the present situation of international competitiveness of agricultural products in international trade thoroughly. By studying the relationship of rule of WTO and the agricultural products in international trade, introducing the latest competitiveness and business strategic theories in the world into the research of international competitiveness of agricultural products, the article put forward to the path and methods of improving the international competitiveness of Chinese agricultural product.By various methods, this text analyzed parts of data of Chinese agricultural product in international trade recent years, through the calculation of competition ability index model to show: The vegetables, corns of Chinese agricultural products expressed a very high competitive advantage in the international trade, fruits and the marine products also express a stronger competitive advantage at the same time, but the competition ability of livestock products is weaker, the soybeans, edible oil and sugars express an extremely unfavorable position. But through further analysis, we found that the high competition ability of our corns is benefit from export subsidy and import quota, etc. Through the SWOT analysis we also got the similar result. So we can get the conclusion: After China join the World Trade Organization, we should raise the intensive degree of agriculture production, lower the producing cost of agricultural products, improve the competition ability of our agricultural product in the international market by more governmental supporting policies in agriculture. And at the same time highlighting the local characteristic, promoting standardized producing, improving quality of agricultural products, transform the price advantagesinto the competitive advantages.In accordance with above conclusion and combined with theory of competitive strategic, this article put forward to cost leading strategy differential strategy and integrated strategy to improve the international competitiveness of Chinese agricultural products. When implement the cost leading strategy, we should utilize the support policy of agriculture "green box",reform the support policy of agriculture "yellow box". By form the agricultural insurance system to lower the opportunity cost of agricultural products and lower the terminal price of agricultural product by the correct circulation channel. As implement differential strategy, we can make use of reasonable layout, exertive regional advantage and enhance the production of green agricultural products, etc. When using integrated strategy, we may accomplish forward integration > backward integration and horizontal integration through investments or by the manner of contracts. In this article, we also discuss some problems and countermeasures during the implement of all above strategies.Finally, the article also studied the role of government in promoting the competitiveness, because we believe the government action would have great influence in promoting the competitiveness of our agricultural products, at the same time make suggestion on government to do the following work: make full use of support policy of agriculture "green box", reform the trade system of agriculture products, strengthen the tactics of answering technical barriers , acquaint with the WTO trade rule, build up the early-warning system and risk guarding system on agricultural production to promote the international competitiveness of Chinese agriculture products.
