The study investigated the Mainland China transshipment logistics market from and to the Hong Kong Port. It reveals that Hong Kong Port handled much more freight than Shenzhen Port and Guangzhou Port, specially most of the freight are containerized high-value goods. It concludes four transshipment logistics models through truck, traditional railway, sprinter rail/truck and ferry, compares their pros and cons from the logistics cost and time prospect. This paper also looks into the causes after comparing the Hong Kong Port with Shenzhen and Guangzhou Port, three key causes are identified: high-density shipping lines, convenient clearance of the customs, one-stop logistics service. It concludes Shenzhen and Guangzhou Port are not only possible but necessary to compete roundly with Hong Kong Port, suggestion on strategy is given at last.
