Study On The Development Of The Harbor Logistics Of Zhejiang Province

With the fast development of economic globalization, science and technology, the flow of capital, technique, merchandise, service and talents quickens around the globe. In the crucial moment when China is emerging itself into the global economy, it is quickening the development of its modern logistics by adapting itself to the rules of WTO and enhancing its international competitiveness.Modern logistics, the natural outcome of the economic development, has its great potential. The facts of the economic development in the developed countries or regions have proved that modern logistics can enormously drag the development of a country's economy and can help its economy's sustainable development.Modem logistics, as an advanced management approach, manages manufacturing, circulating and other economic activities between regions or enterprises as a whole by using computer and network technology, decreases consumption of materials and increase operation quality.The advantages or the functions of a harbor are that it is the place where goods come and go, the hinge where various transportation means converge, the point where all kinds of information gather and an important platform of the modern logistical system. Under the background of economic globalization, China enters a historical period in which China will build itself into a moderately wealthy country and Zhejiang Province determines to take the lead to achieve modernization and raises the strategy to strengthen itself by relying on shipping industry. Zhejiang has been aware of the significance to carefully study and execute its strategic goal of harbor's modern logistics in order to fully display the fundamental role of harbors in achieving the strategic goal of the whole province.In the first part of the thesis, the author analyzes profoundly the necessity and feasibility of the development of Zhejiang Province's harbor logistics by studying the characteristics of modern logistics and its trend and the development of harbors both at home and abroad.The second part first studies the current situations of the development ofpolicies and laws of modern logistics, of the planning of relevant modern logistics, of the infrastructure of coastal harbors and its function, and the general situations of the economic development of Zhejiang Province and its neighboring regions. Then it analyzes the current problems in the development of modern logistics of coastal harbors. At the same time, by using many analyzing approaches, the thesis predicts the development of tonnage of Zhejiang's harbors, especially the tonnage of containers.On the basis of the related analysis, the third part raises an assumption of the function of the general strategy of the development of Zhejiang harbors' modern logistics, as well as the suggestions and the measures of it.
