A Study On Innovation Of Small Enterprises

Innovation is the source of survival and growth for enterprises in the competitive environment, today. To gain core competence and successfully compete in the fierce arena, small enterprises must choose proper innovation strategies and relative strategy implement supporting system. However, most small enterprises in our country lack of strategic thinking and systematic approach in their innovation practices. Rather, the phenomenon of pursuing "big and complete", or "small and complete" widely exist in small enterprises' innovation practices, which are not suitable to sustainable growth of small enterprises.The purpose of this paper is to suggesting countermeasures in innovation for small enterprises, which could be broke down into two objectives: 1) to elucidate what innovation strategies a small enterprise should choose; 2) to demonstrate how to construct a supporting system to implement the innovation strategy chosen by a small enterprise.To solve the problem of "what innovation strategies a small enterprise should choose", technical innovation theories and the analysis of strength and weakness for small enterprises are used in this paper. While to solve the problem of "how to construct a supporting system to implement the innovation strategy chosen by a small enterprise", the Product Life Cycle theory and Business Life Cycle theory, as well as Mckinsey 7S model are employed. The general methodologies of linking theory and practice, and combination of general with individual are also used in this paper.There are five chapters in this paper. Chapter One derives research problems, and raises the research purpose and objectives. Chapter Two gives definitions of small enterprise, and summarizes theories of innovation, as well. Chapter Three argues what innovation strategies that small enterprises should choose. Then in Chapter four, the paper conducts demonstrations on how a small enterprise builds a supportingsystem to implement the innovation strategy.
