Economic diplomacy refers to diplomatic policy and behavior which are implemented by sovereign state and its representative organizations or personnel for realizing economic goal or non-economic goals by economic means. After the end of the Cold War, it is the new changes of international situation and the new needs of country's development that propose the necessity to launch economic diplomacy for China; it is the favorable international environment and existed foundation developed at home that propose the possibility to launch economic diplomacy for China. In order to safeguard and expand the national interests such as economy, politics, security interests and promote the peace, stability, development of area and the world, the China's economic diplomacy in post-Cold War period insists on principles such as national interests, equality and mutual benefit, common development and prosperity , and pursuit of the interests by cooperation, emphasizing on expanding foreign trade, absorbing foreign investment and participating in regional economic cooperation, making great efforts in expanding the investments abroad, launching international monetary and financial cooperation and foreign aid, etc. After the end of the Cold War, China's economic diplomacy to USA, to ASEAN and diplomatic efforts to strive for joining the WTO highlights the distinct characteristics and outstanding achievements of its economic diplomacy. It is China's economic diplomacy in post-Cold War period that has made the abundant achievements and outstanding achievements, and has played a positive role in many aspects such as supporting the development of domestic economy, launching foreign friendly contacts, creating favorable international environment and maintaining and promoting peace, stability and development of area and the world.This paper is divided into four chapters, regarding the practice of China's economic diplomacy in post-Cold War period as the main research contents. On the basis of the analyses of the theoretical foundation of economic diplomacy and basic contents of China's economic diplomacy in chapter one, it is divided into three phases that development process of China's economic diplomacy is analyzed specifically in chapter two and three. There are three cases chosen to explain it, that is, China's economic diplomacy to USA, to ASEAN and diplomatic efforts to strive for joining the WTO, which are analyzed further from bilateral, regional and multilateral respectively. Thus there is a more comprehensive understanding and assurance to China's economic diplomacy in post-Cold War period. It is analyzed mainly from the positive aspects to the function and influence of China's economic diplomacy in post-Cold War period in chapter four. Finally, there is a simple summary and prospect of it, and analyses of restriction and influence factors and challenges that confront with China's economic diplomacy in post-Cold War period briefly.
