Comparative Research On Sino-American Inland Waterway Transportation

Inland waterway transportation is a part of integrated transportation system and one of the basic industries of national economy. However, since 1980s, the share of our inland waterway transportation in integrated transportation system fell dramatically. Reviewing from the process of inland waterway transportation development, American inland transportation outdistanced china. On the base of reviewing the developing process of inland transportation of both china and American, this article have analysis the character and gap between china and America by comparing the Chinese inland transportation with Americas' and put forwarded some advices and measures to speed up our inland transportation development.This article has discussed the character and the index system , the compare of Sino-American inland transportation , the advance to our inland waterway transportation and the study of case of comparing the pearl river's transportation with Mississippi rivers' step by step. This article focused on comparing the Chinese inland transportation indexes and the process of inland waterway development with America using some ways of comparing. At the same time, I have analysis the American experiences of developing its' own inland transportation, which benefited our inland waterway development.This article has discussed the disadvantage of Chinese inland transportation by comparing with America. The main problems were as below: the first reason was the shortage of fun;the second reason was that we have not made advantage of water resource fully;the third reason was the chaos of inland management system;the final reason is the outdated facilities, all of those have limited development of our inland transportation.This article proposed that we should carry out the strategy of sustainable development, utilizing water resource and technology innovation after analyzing the problem of our inland waterway transportation. In order to insure speediness, reliability and sustainability of our inland transportation development, it have given some reasonable countermeasures and advices on the basis of the strategy of developing.Finally, this article has proposed a case-the development of Mississippi river and Pearl River to further explain the gap between china and America.
