Research on corporate communication is at its initial stage in China;not muchhas been published by the business practitioners and academicians. This treatisefocuses on some of the key issues of corporation internal communication networks. The development of managerial practices in recent years indicates that corporatecommunication should be treated strategically as one of the key sub-systems of thewhole corporate strategy. It is required that all the details about corporatecommunication should be analyzed both qualitatively and quantitatively. This treatise is part of the Study of Chinese Enterprises' CommunicationNetwork sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation (No. 70072016). Thequalitative and descriptive analyses are the basic methodology we follow;and wefurther our arguments using subtle statistical tools which give this treatise quantitativesupports. The treatise starts from the basic theoretical framework of corporate internalcommunication, and explains the resources and channels of internal communicationvia qualitative analyses;then it uses statistical measures to explore the factorsaffecting communication behaviors and quality, thus identify major communicationproblems and challenges companies face. Drawing on large sample data analysis, twocorporate communication inventories are devised and put to tests to verify thetheoretical framework we have formulated and applied in our study of corporateinternal communication networks in China. The ultimate goal of improving communication efficiency and effectiveness is tocreate values. This treatise proposes a Structural Equation Model to assess impacts ofkey communication variables on the rate of return on communication investment. Wehope this could initiate a new and much needed series of research topics.
