According to the IMD's annual report, the cooperation activities among enterprises in China are not enough, which makes China always rank behind. As a knowledge production organization, the R&D alliances is not only important to gain the competition advantage, but also very critical to enhance the national competitiveness. With the continuous development of China's market economy system, the R&D alliances are getting more attention from the society. The R&D alliances engage in knowledge production activities, and belong to the "Learning Organization". Under such circumstances, what is the basic theory of the R&D alliances' mutual learning, which factors bring the barriers to the mutual learning and how to make the R&D alliances' mutual learning more effective are becoming some research subjects with practical and theoretical meaning. And this is also the main contents that this thesis tries to explain fully.Firstly, the thesis clarifies the concept of the R&D alliances. Based on the enterprise knowledge theory, organizational learning theory, it constructs the theory stone as the backbone of the R&D alliances mutual learning. In fact, the R&D alliances have the knowledge production property in nature, and meanwhile, the mutual learning process is also the knowledge flowing process. Then, the thesis analyses the knowledge flowing path and four learning methods development in the mutual learning process. The mutual learning strategy is put forward according to the SCP analysis framework from industrial economics. Then, it analyses the R&D alliances mutual learning barriers from three angles, namely knowledge property, learning ability and relationships. After that, the advice on the improvement of mutual learning is suggested. Through researching knowledge rights, interest allocation, relationship capital and environment, it builds the supporting system of R&D alliances mutual learning.
