Key employees are the staff who have strong impact on the production and management of the enterprise, and can hardly be replaced within a short period. They are the undertakers of the core competence, and they are the foundation which enterprise existence and development should rely on.The turnover of the key employees results from the interaction of the extrinsic factors such as better opportunities outside the enterprise, and the intrinsic factors such as dissatisfaction with salary and welfare policies, or incompatibility with the executive. The extrinsic factors are temptations which only promote, while the extrinsic factors expel, which is the key to the turnover of the key employeesThe fiercer the competition between the enterprises is, the higher the turnover of the key employees becomes, and there are many key employees quit together at the same time frequently. The turnover of the key employees will not only betray the commercial and technical confidences of enterprise, but also increase the capital of human resource replacement, interfere with the job performance, damage the cohesion, weaken the employees' morale, and influence the enterprise development strategy. And if all the key employees quit at the same time, it will give the enterprise a deathblow, and lead it to bankruptcy. How to retain the key employees has become a vital problem to the executives, especially to those human resource managers.The behavior of human beings is predominated by their desire. The turnover of the key employees is also predominated by their desire. We should satisfy with their desire if we want to retain the key employees.As to the causes of the key employees' turnover, we base ourselves on the demand analysis and point out that the key is we should make the enterprise becomes an inviting enterprise if we want to retain our key employees. To retain the key employees, we come up with the countermeasures in aspects such as career development, salary policies and corporate culture. We have also discussed the correct method of dealing with the sudden quit of the key employees.
