The electromechanical industry, as the leading industry in China's export, not only determines directly the amount of China's export, but also exerts a great influence on the sustainable development of China's national economy. So the study on how to promote the competitiveness of China's electromechanical industry has a strong practical meaning in such a fiece competitive environment. After reviewing the development history of trade theory in the past 200 years, the article summarizes the theory of industrial international competitiveness and puts forward the theoretical model and evaluation system of electromechanical international competitiveness. On the basis of theoretical study, the article analyzes the competitive performance and its changes of China's electromechanical industry with statistical figures between 1992 and 2004. Under the theoretical framework of Porter's "diamond model", the article analyzes the determinants and internal mechamism of China's eletromechanical international competitiveness. In the finality, the ideal way to promote China's electromechanical international competitiveness is considered in order to achieve the goal of sustainable development of China's national economy.Because of the great demand inside and outside the country and strong support of government, international competitiveness of Chinese electromechanical industry strengthens continuously. But compared with developed countries' electromechanical industry, it lays behind in quantity, structure and technology. Government, trade associations and companies should do their best together to increase the international competitiveness of Chinese electromechanical industry.
