The traditional SPC can't be used directly in multi-specification andsmall-batch production or mass customization production. Productscomparability exists in these two productions widely. This provides thefeasibility of applying GT from product design to group production. Theproducts comparability and the use of GT bring the comparability ofquality variance, which is the base of quality control with GT.Two pivotal problems should be solved. One is to identify the similarprocess in order to form process family;the other is how to deal with thedate from the same process family. Spare-classify coding system is thetechnology to identify comparability. The existing Spare-classify codingsystem isn't formed according to quality variance, so it can't be used toclassify process family directly. This problem can be resolved by formingSpare-classify coding system according to quality variance. Somescholars have done research on this, but particular methods haven'tappeared. The other method is to classify process subjectively based onthe experience of skilled workers and engineers. The author considersthat the resource and form of quality variance are different in differentindustry. The existing technology to identify comparability should beconsidered fully when using GT to control quality.The thesis applies fuzzy cluster analysis to classify process, and bringsforeword a method using weighted distance to determine the fuzzy similarcoefficient. The process capability indexes of similar process should beequal due to the quality cost. Based on this, quality control charts areestablished. The relationship between process capability index estimationand sample size is studied. Various calculating methods are listed, andprocess capability index is forecasted by process family.The research on SPC in mass customization production is less. Thecharacter of mass customization production and its supporting technologymake quality management faces new environment. Mass customizationproduction is a kind of multi-specification product. GT, advancedmanufacturing technology and information technology support to masscustomization production. Also comparability exists in masscustomization production, and GT are effective way to apply SPC in masscustomization production.
