The current steel market has changed from the original seller's market into a buyer's market. The demand for steel products in forms and structure has taken place profound changes. Diversified and more personalized demand has become the main trend of the steel market. More varieties and small quantities will inevitably become the main features of the user's contract. But it can not be met by the traditional mass production mode. So meeting the special needs of users which should produce customized production has increasingly become a key and decisive factor in market competition. Enterprises urgently need a new mode of production to meet the individual needs of users with the same low-cost and high quality. At present, mass customized production mode is the best choice of modern iron and steel enterprise, which can convert customized demand into large-scale production.However, iron and steel enterprise is different from general manufacturing enterprises. It is semi-processes industry involving of many production lines and long production cycle of products. In such a complex environment, implementing mass customization is very difficult. Original business organization system, production process, manufacturing management, production control need be re-organized and re-designed. Therefore, it is especially important to research some related production organization technology and manufacturing management technology. This paper has studied the key quality management techniques of mass customization. It focused on the existing problems in our quality design methods of product and deeply discussed two core issues which are inadequate of modular products and less flexible in static design.Firstly, because of inadequate of modular products in existing methods, personalized demand can not be effectively changed into common products to achieve mass production. Focusing on this problem, modular technology of product for mass customization in the iron and steel enterprise is presented in this paper. It introduced general concept of modular technology in iron and steel enterprises, and put forward design method for modular product, which is on the basis of steel-making ingredients and by means of cluster analysis. Details of the processing for practical issues are also given. Results of application indicate that this method has realized existing steel grades emerged. It significantly increases modular products, which shows the method is good.Secondly, because of inadequate of flexibility, existing methods can't deal with the conflict between mass customization and large production fluctuations. Focusing on this problem, this paper proposed a dynamic quality design technology for mass customization. It introduced the dynamic quality design principle, proposed for system architecture of implementing dynamic quality design. This paper paid much attention to discuss dynamic quality design method of hot-rolled products, which can dynamically adjust hot-rolled process parameters according to actual steel composition in steel-making processes. This method is based on the mechanical properties prediction model and metallurgical experience model. Results of application show that the technology can timely adjust following-up process based on fluctuations in steel-making processes, which not only can maintain the smooth flow of logistics, but also can increase performance passing rate of adjusted products.I deeply hope that this study can promote mass customization to in-depth application in the iron and steel enterprises.
