Researches on the industrial development route and strategies of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area are a comprehensive study from the perspective of regional industrial economy. At present it remains a special and sensitive region. Its speciality lies in that it is an economic region of the Three Gorges Project which is not only facing many important tasks, such as migration, poverty alleviation and socioeconomic development, but also it has a unique complexity of administrative division on this 560,000 square kilometers area. It is sensitive, because before and after the project was initiated, the Three Gorges Reservoir Area has always been the focus of world attention. At the end of the Three Gorges Project, it entered the period of economic and social development, but the top priority----the research on industrial development is still in the initial stage. And this doesn't match the practical urgent needs. A summary on the lessons from the actual changes in the industrial adjustment and studies on the integrated theory of industrial development not only can guide and solve some problems of industrial development in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, but also provide reference for all levels of government to formulate industrial development policies.Currently, the academic research on the major project is rare, and there is no complete research system and research method is also inadequate. From the perspective of regional economy theory, it mainly studies the economic impact which is made on by the project, rather than evaluate the project itself. This paper uses theories of development economics, regional economics and industrial economics to analyze the current situation, difficulties, advantages, industrial development strategies and models of the industrial development. As for the current issues, it gives some countermeasures and advices to accelerate the industrial development from a strategic perspective. The industrial development should be based on the actual situation. We can give full play to the comparative advantages of regions, develop labor-intensive industries according to market demand, create a good investment environment, attract outside capital, technology and talent, use the counterpart support which is provided throughout the country and combine the relocation and restricting of enterprises to achieve the reorganization and optimization of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area industries. So wecan gradually build up an optimum, reasonable and more competitive industrial system which is suitable for the characteristics of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, and eventually achieve sustainable, rapid, stable, and coordinated development of the Three Gorges Reservoir Area.
