Study On China's Export Credit Insurance

Whether it is a developed country or a developing country, it takes to some extent various preferential measures that help export companies protect against risk, lower the cost and obtain finance so as to develop foreign trade. As a policy-oriented insurance, Export Credit Insurance (ECI) provides economic security to the export and foreign investment of domestic enterprises, aiming at enlarging trade volume and exploiting overseas markets. Export credit insurance is one of three major official export-promotion policies which also include export credit and export credit guarantee. With China's entry into the WTO, all of the direct subsidies to export are restricted or forbidden gradually. Export credit insurance, as a special insurance system encouraged by the World Trade Organization laws and regulations, will become the major export promotion in our country. Compared with developed countries, ECI in China is still at primary stage, and many problems need to be solved with the co-efforts of the government, ECI agency and the enterprises. This thesis studies the fundamental theories of export credit insurance with the emphasis on the problems of ECI development in China. The writer also puts forward her own opinion and suggestions to improve China's export credit insurance. The whole thesis falls into four chapters:The first chapter is employed to provide readers an all-round view on export credit insurance. This introduction focuses on the aspects like definition, classification, characteristics, history, managing principles of export credit insurance and the difference between ECI and other commercial insurance.The second chapter is a comparative research on the managerial modes of export credit insurance, and an analysis of the common features of these patterns, which will provide reference for the development and improvement of ECI in China. The third chapter presents a review of our national export credit insurance and raises the problems existed in its development.
