Research On Environmental Carrying Capacity Of Economic Sustainable Growth In Nanjing City

With rapid growth of economy, the relationship between economic system and environmental system is deteriorating day by day, which has caused scholars to pay more attention to environmental carrying capacity. But up to now many questions about environmental carrying capacity have not come into agreement, and quantitative research of environmental carrying capacity is even more difficult. This thesis is aimed at studying the influence of Nanjing's economic growth on its environmental carrying capacity and the changes of environmental carrying capacity by quantitative analysis, in order to obtain several strategies on sustainable growth of Nanjing's environmental carrying capacity.The thesis regards Nanjing's environmental carrying capacity as the central topic. First of all, summarizes the studying background of environmental carrying capacity home and abroad from two aspects of both qualitative analysis and quantitative analysis. Secondly, introduces basical contents of environmental carrying capacity theory as well as the conditions of Nanjing's natural resources and social economy. Thirdly, designs the index system of Nanjing's environmental carrying capacity and uses hierarchy and vector analytical method to research Nanjing's environmental carrying capacity among the years of 1997 and 2003. Subsequently, the author analyzes the environmental carrying quantity, environmental carrying capacity, environmental carrying rate and their variational trends from 1997 to 2003 in detail. Lastly, according to the above results, puts forward some measures to protect and advance Nanjing's evironmental carrying capacity. In addition, the thesis has gained a little innovative achievements which are differ from other scholars, such as classifying the carrying objects of environmental carrying capacity, establishing the index system of environmental carrying capacity, unifying dimentions, modifying the initial coefficients and making use of hierarchy and vector analytical method to analyze environmental carrying capacity quantificationally.
