Research On The Spatial Structure Of The Petrochemical Industry In The Yangtze River Delta

The petrochemical industry (P.I.) is a sort of basic heavy-chemical industry, characterized by its long industrial chains, high correlate degree and high added value. Thus the developed country all ran through the stage on which P.I.growed rapidly. The global petrochemical structure is running into the process of petrochemical industrial structure marked by innovations. The transnational corporations are merging in great amount and building new global strategic system. Currently China is on the heavy-chemical industry stage and P.I. is increasingly getting important in economic system. In recent years P.I. has grew enormously in Yangtze River Delta and become one of important P.I. regions. On these grounds the importance of studying P.I. in Yangtze River Delta stands. This research on the spatial structure of P.I. in perspective from regional economics is helpful to the recognization of the developing process in Yangtze River Delta and other regions, and, has great significance to the regional industry structure promotion and industry distribution adjustment. Meanwhile, based on P.I. enterprise catalogues and concentrated on the enterprise investment institutes, the research opens new horizon for related issues in regional economics.The thesis is made up of six chapters. Chapter 1 is prelude, introducing the theoretical and practical significance of the study and the basic structure of this thesis. Chapter 2 sums up the theory and practice of spatial distribution of P.I. home and abroad in order to provide references to this research. Chapter 3 analyses the different stages of the spatial structure of P.I. in Yangtze River Delta and the characteristics corresponding to every stage. Chapter 4 discusses the current features of spatial structure of P.I. in Yangtze River Delta, dividing into three facets. In micro scope facet, the different enterprise investment institute causes different spatial structure. In medium scope facet, the spatial distribution of petrochemical industry park(P.I.P) in Yangtze River Delta is discussed. In macro scope facet, the distribution of P.I. chain on city systems of Yangtze River Delta is researched. In Chapter 5, the dynamic mechanism in spatial structure evolvement are put forward and the possible evolving trend in future is forecast. Chapter 6 is the conclusion.The innovation of the thesis is:①Traced on the spatial structure evolvement of P.I. in Yangtze River Delta, the research uses the enterprise catalogues to analyze the spatial distribution of microscopical market subjects, followed by the illustration in map.
