As one of the world’s six major urban agglomerations, the Yangtze River delta area lead the development of China’s high-tech industry in recent years, because they take advantage of geographic location and economic foundatioa In the context of adjusting the industrial structure and changing the mode of economic growth, there has been a divide on whether industrial isomorphism problem exists in Yangtze delta area. Some scholars hold that it presents serious industrial isomorphism problem, it may lead to vicious competition and waste of resources. Some scholars believe that industrial isomorphism is an early form of industrial clusters,it may not have a negative impact on economic growth.Whether industrial isomorphism problem exists in Yangtze delta area is worth further study. The research is a case study on high-tech industry, which is based on the qualitative and quantitative analysis, combines empirical analysis and canonical parse, and integrates theory with practice.Firstly,we review the industrial structure and economic growth theory, including First Clark Law,Kuznets Law,Hoffman Law,etc. Then, using the index of industrial similarity and location quotient to analyzes whether the Yangtze River delta area exits high-tech industrial isomorphism, analysing the resaon of industrial isomorphism. Again, based on the analysis of spatial correlation and spatial spillover, a positive analysis is made on high-tech industrial isomorphism by using spatial econometric model. Finally, we draw some conclusions and proposals by analysing theoretically and empirically. This paper argue that technology diffusion and similarity of resource endowments promote the Yangtze River delta area’s high-tech industrial isomorphism. The focal official’s incentive system distort the market mechanism, prompting officials join in the zero-sum game. This type of industrial isomorphism is a form of early industrial clusters, it is different from the1990’s vicious competition. This industrial isomorphism means China’s industrial structure has gradually shift from labor-intensive to technology-intensive.It also means high-tech industrial isomorphism has a positive impact on its economic growth.
