Now the knowledge of heavy ion fragmentation at intermediateand high energy is an important field in the investigation of nuclearphysics and particle physics. In recent decades particularly, theinvestigation of nucleus-nucleus collisions and fragmentation atintermediate and high energy causes wide attention and is used inmany fields, for example: the therapy of cancer, the investigation ofgalactic cosmic rays, the radiation of cosmic space, the generationof radioactive particle and so all. This experiment uses12C ion beam irradiate, through CR—39detecters with Al targets, create fragment under the energy of400AMeV. High-speed imaging microscope HPS-1000and PitFit analysissoftware extract12C ions tracks and fragments tracks.Through the study of this experiment, total charge-changing crosssection and the partial cross-sections for projectile fragment havebeen obtained, and respectively they compared with the predictionsusing the Bradt-Peters semi-empirial formula and the NUCFRAG2modles, the results of the comparison show that the experimentalresults are in the range of experimental error. In addition, when Cbeam irradiate Al target in400A MeV, this experiment also obtain thedistribution of the primary particle scattering angle and thesecondary particles emission angle, and find that the secondary particles emission angle is greater than the primary particlescattering angle.
