Evaluation And Utilizing Of Yellow River Stone Forest Geoheritage Resource

Yellow River Stone Forest geoheritage is distributed at the junction of Jingtai and Jingyuan, Gansu province. The national geopark is built here and Yellow River Stone Forest Scenic area is also named after the special landform features, such as conglomerate cockpit and river meander, and so on. Because of the function of demonstrating the region’s geography changes, tectonic movements and climate change, Yellow River Stone Forest geoheritage is a significant place for scientific research, investigation and earth science education.Currently domestic researchers have made some achievements on geoheritage protection and utilization. But for the reasons of the limit of economy, technology and the local’s consciousness, geoheritage is still threaten and affected in various ways and extents. In order to deal with the relationship between the protection and utilizing of geoheritage, it is important to undertake research in investigation, evaluation and sustainable development of geoheritage. Based on the Yellow River Stone Forest geoheritage resources survey, the study evaluates the geoheritage and gives the suggestion for protection and utilization.According to the study, the geoheritage of this region was approximately classified as three main types and six minor types. It includes 7 wind flow special landscape sites,17 cockpit landform sites,1 water landscape sites,1 strati graphic section site,7 collapse sites. All sites were plotted on the map.The study evaluates Yellow River Stone Forest geoheritage sites by fuzzy evaluation method, which is a semi-quantitative mathematical method.The study assigns the weight to the factors, followed by fuzzy evaluation and fuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The evaluation results show the value of 39 geoheritage sites by scores and sequence. Study discusses the results and get the overall results of the evaluation of geoheritage.The study also gives some suggestion for the issues of Yellow River Stone geoheritage, such as the improving protection of geoheritage, infrastructure, science tourism, geological science activities, the tourism chain, etc.
