According to statistics, Chinese total output of plastic products was57.81million tons in2012, plastic industry has been the biggest industry and China has been the biggest plasticproducts production and consumption country. extrusion molding makes about50%plasticproducts, the screw is the core component of extrusion molding equipment.when designingscrew,there are large number of moldling work,it takes much time to do these works.In paper, Outlined basic situation,development history and development trend of CADtechnology. This paper introduced two kinds of parametric design, CAD technology was beenapplication at plastic area home and abroad.reserched the parametric design technology andintruduced development environment, chosed the development methods and the tools,included UG/OpenAPI、UG/Open MenuScript、UG/Open UIStyler、Visual C++6.0、MicrosoftAccess. According to the theory of extrusion molding and experience, Put forward thedetermination of common screw, BM screw, pin type screw,barrier type screw parametersand The parameters optimization method.analyzed the overall structure and building methodof Screw the parameteric design system. Then introduced the specific implementation processof parametric design system,include screw diameter estimation,screw parametric design,check screw,screw database management,user information management.UG was secondary development platform, common screw, BM screw, pin typescrew,barrier type screw Can be designed by this parametric design system.When the screwparameters were known, Only needed to input screw parameters, parametric design systemcan Output screw3D modelS.At the same time, parametric design system can manage themodel files,screw parameters and user information.So user can Shorten the design cycle,improve efficiency,reduce the cost by parametric design system.
