Abscission Layer, roof fall and rib spalling, etc. of the compound roof are major disastersfor coal mine safety production. The researches of the supporting technique for the compoundroof under complex conditions have important application value, which are useful for the coalmine safety production.Based on the background of the24506work face in Chenghe Coal Mine, the paper usedthe theoretical analysis, numerical simulation and field practice methods to carry out theresearch work. Using the elastic-plastic mechanics theories, the deformation, destruction,instability mechanism and the corresponding stability condition of the compound roof in coalmine roadway were systematically analyzed. And based on the traditional anchor (net)supporting theory, the compound roof bolting mechanism and their parameters were analyzedand determined. At the same time, the paper systematically elaborated the bolting methods forcompound roof rock in the coal mines: engineering analogy, theoretical design method,numerical calculations, engineering monitoring method, etc.Based on the study of factors affecting the stability of the compound roof, the stabilityevaluation model based on AHP was established, and creating the stability grading standardsfor the compound roof in coal mines, and using the engineering analogy method to determinethe bolting method according to its comprehensive evaluation value, then achieved thepurpose of supporting design.The paper achieved the stability evaluation and bolting designfor the Chenghe mine24506work face, and made the monitoring program as well asconducted the experimental research underground. The monitoring and date showed that thebolting effect of24506work face is perfect. From the engineering practice, we can get theconclusion that the proposed stability evaluation method and its corresponding bolting programare reasonable and effective.
