Study On Coupling Coordination Development Between Urbanization And Eco-environment Of Xuzhou City

Urbanization is not only the inevitable trend of economic and social development,but also is the impetus to promote the further development of economy and society. Atpresent, China is in a new round of economic growth cycle, accelerating thedevelopment of urbanization is the main feature of this period. But such rapidextensive mode of urbanization has caused tremendous pressure to the urbaneco-environment, which has become a stress factor in our society and urbandevelopment and harmful to the sustainable development of urbanization. As a typicaltype of energy and old industrial production base, Xuzhou city had dependend on theeconomic structure of heavy industry in a long term, which caused rather seriousdamage to the local eco-environment.Based on the above background, this paper selected Xuzhou as the study subjectsand the study period from1995to2011. Based on the research review, take advantage ofqualitative research methods to analyze the present situation of urbanization andeco-environment of Xuzhou and have a general understanding of their interactioneffect. The results show that the urbanization have stress on eco-environment, mainlymanifested in the the resources and energy consumption, daily life, urban spaceexpansion, industrial waste pollution, etc.;the main constraint elements of theecological environment that effect the urbanization process, mainly manifested in themineral resources, water and land resources and other factors.And in accordance withthe relevant statistical data, according to the related statistical data,30evaluationindex were screened by using correlation analysis and factor analysis in SPSS.Ultimately, the evaluation system of coupling between urbanization andeco-environment of Xuzhou City is constituted.In order to find the main influencing factors of coupling between urbanizationand eco-environment, using gray system theory to calculated the gray correlationdegree and sorting their influence degree. The results show that the correlation degreebetween each index and the two systems performs as a strong correlation andmoderate correlation. Among them, the city’s economic development, urbanpopulation growth and the living standards improvment of urban society are thedominant factors affecting the eco-environment.While the environmental protectionlevel and ecological conditions are the dominant factors affecting the development ofurbanization. By analyzing the stress and constraints influenced factors of urbanization and eco-environment, coordinating the relationship between the twosystems and proposing countermeasures as important reference in the next stepFor determining the coupling strength from the whole between the two systemsas urbanization and eco-environment,the paper analyze the coupled coordinationproperty of the two.The results show that from1995to2011, the development level ofurbanization and eco-environment showed an upward trend as a whole year by year;the coupling degree present volatility of features with time changes obviously,whichis based to run-in stage and high level of coupling stage; values of couplingcoordination degree change from0.3256~0.8845, indicating that the couplingcoordination type transit from the moderate imbalance decline to high-qualitycoordinated development;Meanwhile, this paper selects key indicators for studing thetiming rule of coupling between urbanization and eco-environment of Xuzhou City.The results show that the coupling curve of urbanization and economic developmentpresents an special S shape, and the characteristics of the development trendperforms as slow-fast-slow; the coupling curves between urbanization andeco-environment show U shape, inverted U shape and S shape.Finally, on the basis of earlier studies in conclusion, summarizes theopportunities and challenges of economic and social development of Xuzhou City,then put forward the corresponding countermeasures and suggestions mianly from sixaspects,such as transform the economic development mode, optimize and adjust theindustrial structure, scientific planning the land use, develop the reclcling economyvigorously,strengthen the government’s macro-control and raise public awareness ofenvironmental protection.
