With the popularization of information technology, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) asthe representative of the management information system has played an important role in theenterprise’s production and business activities. As market competition increasing, companiesmust improve their production processing. The companies not only concern about the resultsof the plan, but also pay more attention to the process of plan. Then, Manufacturing ExecutionSystems (MES) come into being.MES makes up for the faults between the planning andcontrol systems, and achieves a data transfer and sharing effectively, improves themanagement and control level of workshop. Due to the different level of information in allkinds of discrete manufacturing companies, variation of manufacturing business, research ondiscrete manufacturing execution system is still less and not deep enough.Elevator production is a kind of order production, it belongs to discrete manufacturing. Thissubject is to provide a reliable platform for elevator companies. The platform has basicfunctions of MES. It connects planning and control systems, optimizes production orders andhas real-time processing data feedback.According to the characteristic of elevator sheet metal pressing, this subject focuses on theresearch of building a MES system based on ERP to improve management level.Firstly, this article introduces the research background, the research and application statusof discrete manufacturing execution systems, analyses the characteristic of elevator sheet-metal parts. Secondly, analyses information needs of elevator sheet-metal processing. Then,researches MES applications in elevator sheet-metal processing and gives an applicationdesign based on the above research.Finally, it gives a conclusion and points out the following research direction.
