Pick is the cutting tool used to cutting coal, it is widely used in all kinds of shearer and road header in coal mining industry. Because the tooth using environments are very poor, this leads teeth loss quickly,its life is short, therefore, the design of failure mode and structure of conical bits, can provide some help for the design and manufacturing of pick.The working process of cutting coal and rock is more complex, this complexity is due to the complex structure and properties of coal and rock. Therefore, to understand the structural features of coal, analysis of the physical properties of coal and mechanical properties, and mechanical changes in cutting process are very necessary.In this paper, the failure form of cutting tooth is analyzed, calculation of cutter in cutting process of force, and the stress simulation to simulate the cutter in cutting work force, through the analysis to determine the stress distribution rule of cutting tooth, look in the applied as the actual situation of the work load when the simulation results, whether the failure forms and tooth. At the end, the pick is analyzed by modal analysis, to determine the resonance is whether one of the reason which cause the failure of pick.The design of three kinds of different structure and shape of cutting pick, the three pick for static simulation, dynamic simulation, according to simulation results to determine the optimal cutting tooth structure, and study the size parameter further on the optimal structure, and discusses the influence of different dimension parameters of tooth strength, provide an important basis for further improving the cutting tooth strength. In cutting process due to blocking of dust, environmental pollution, lead the cutters can not be achieved rotation in the tooth base, improved design based on the gear seat part of the structure, tooth and tooth friction, increase the torque, so that the rotation of the cutter is improved.
